Raise A Catboy

How to Play Raise A Catboy

Checked

Your first session is three moves in a fixed order: steal an egg, place it at your cafe, hatch it. The game prints a banner for each one, so you never have to guess whether the last step worked. This page follows those banners in the order they actually appear, then hands you the cat wheel.

What the screen tells you first

You spawn into Sakura Park facing a pink paw print painted on the ground. Two counters sit in the bottom left: a shoe icon with a number under it (Speed) and a money icon showing $0 with +$0/s under it. The left edge holds Shop, Index and Trails; the right edge holds Catboys and Café; a hotbar sits along the bottom.

None of those buttons do anything for you yet. The loop starts on the grass, where nests of eggs sit within sight of the spawn point.

Stealing an egg

Walk to a nest holding an egg. The nests near spawn are labelled Common Egg, and a prompt appears with an E key badge and the word Steal. Hold it.

The confirmation is immediate: a green check, the line You got a Common!, and a card showing Common Egg x1 above your hotbar. That card is the sign you are now carrying an egg.

If no prompt appears the nest is empty and another player took it first. Move to the next nest.

Place your egg

Carrying the egg triggers the objective banner Place your egg! across the top of the screen. It appears at the same moment as the steal confirmation, so this is the second step, not the first thing you do on joining.

What you are placing is the egg itself, at your own plot rather than at another player's cafe. The plots line the street and carry the owner's name and rate on a sign, which is how you tell yours apart from signs like Lunarii's Café or Biscuit & Bean cat café.

We could not read the exact key or button that confirms the placement. The footage we captured shows the banner and then a placed egg with no visible prompt in between, so this page does not invent one.

Your egg is ready

Once the egg is down, the game prints Your egg is ready! Hatch it!. That is the signal that the carry and place steps are both finished.

Hatching and the Index

Hatch, and three things appear at once:

  • New catboy discovered! Claim its reward in the Index.
  • You hatched Catboy Tanjiro (Common, $5/s)!
  • A red badge appears on the Index button on the left edge.

Your money counter changes from +$0/s to that catboy's rate. The loop is now closed: an egg turned into income. The catboys page covers what those numbers mean.

Running the cat wheel

The wheel is the big hoop on the street with a small sign reading CAT WHEEL — Spin a little faster. Step inside and the game prints Keep running! at the top while small +6 numbers pop over the wheel and a +90 SPEED PER STEP figure floats beside it.

Hold the run and the Speed counter climbs. An UPGRADE button sits under the wheel showing a cash price — $10K at the moment we read it. More on the prices that appear later is on the speed and cat wheel guide.

When the night timer appears

A magenta countdown labelled NIGHT IN appears at the top of the screen during later stretches, matched by a panel in the bottom right reading EGGS: x30 with its own clock.

We could not confirm what the night phase changes — whether it swaps which catboys or nests are active, or how the egg count is used. The timer was on screen; its effect never was.

What to do next

Run the loop three or four more times before spending anything. Common eggs are free, and every hatch either raises your income or adds a card to the Index.

Two things this page cannot answer, because the footage never showed them: what happens if a guard catches you while carrying an egg, and how the touch controls map the E prompt on mobile. If you hit either, treat it as a new situation rather than a missing step here.

Once your counter is moving, trail prices decide your first real purchase and codes tells you whether a free head start exists yet — right now it does not.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you steal an egg in Raise A Catboy?

Walk to a nest with an egg in it, wait for the E prompt labelled Steal, and hold it. The game confirms with 'You got a Common!' and an egg card.

What does Place your egg mean?

It is the objective banner that appears once you are carrying an egg. Place it at your own plot rather than at a stranger's cafe.

How long does the first loop take?

In the footage we captured the first egg is stolen inside the first half minute and the first catboy is paying before the wheel is used, all inside two minutes.
